#RitualChallenge Week Four: Spread the Love

Love not only feels good, but it literally nourishes our body just like food and sunlight. Out of all the positive emotions (joy, serenity, awe, etc.) love is considered the SUPER emotion because of its powerful effects on our well-being. Love can even influence what parts of our DNA get expressed in our cells.

This week’s Ritual Challenge is to create rituals of love: self-love, compassionate love, love of friends and family and sensual/sexual love. A good exercise is to see what people really need to feel loved. Is it quality time? Loving words? Actions that show you care? Gentle or sensual touch? Presents?

As we move into Mother’s Day this week, look at ways you can express your love to your mother, or to the mother figures in your life, and focus on what they need – not on what you would like from them.

Love expands your energetic field, it raises your vibration, can release oxytocin (the love hormone) serotonin (the feel good hormone) and magnifies desired things into your life.

Love blesses you when you share it with others. Just think of how good you feel when someone shares his/her love with you.

Write a love letter to yourself:

Write a love letter to yourself expressing all the wonderful traits that you love about yourself, as well as the things that you are proud of having accomplished. Take your time as you recognize and honor your own greatness: “I love your openness and compassionate heart, I love the way you dance and express yourself, I love your ability to make things grow, I love your cooking, I admire your skill on the tennis court, I respect your talent as an artist.” 

Make sure to include all the things that you are proud of: “I am so proud of the way you stood up for yourself at work, your dedication to helping your parents touched my heart, you did an incredible job on your term paper, everyone was inspired by your courage to quit your job and follow your dreams.”

When you are finished, read the letter aloud. Allow yourself to feel loved and appreciated.

Place the letter in a drawer and read it whenever you need a boost.

As you open your heart to yourself, you make yourself more available to giving and receiving love in your life. Allow yourself the joy of being loved.

Now write a love letter to someone in your life. Be sure to send it to them and spread the joy!
